LENTICULAR
3D PHOTOGRAPHY Photographs
by Laura Jones Using cameras, made by Snap 3D, with two, four, or five lenses and 35mm film, Laura Jones takes 2, 4, or 5 simultaneous photographs. Each image has a slightly different perspective The film is developed at a local lab. (Any good quality lab can do this.) Laura has the lab print 2 images on 4 by 6" paper. These images can be seen in 3D with a stereo viewer. The film is also printed as lenticular prints. When you look at a lenticular print there is no need for a viewer. The print appears 3D photograph Lenticular printing is frequently used for novelty printing and in most cases the prints must be purchased in mass quantities at great expense. Most lenticulars are mass-produced with an offset or lithographic process. Few companies offer small printing runs, making the expense extreme. The difference between Laura's lenticular's and ones found in cereal boxes is the quality. Laura's are created with a photographic process. The lens that makes the image 3D is embedded into the print emulsion The mass produced lenticulars use glue to adhere the lens (lenticular) onto the printed image. The registration is rarely exact and often bumpy. Laura Jones's are smooth and have greater detail. Laura Jones is a member of Stereo Ontario and the National Stereoscopic Association. For more
